Paranormal Experiences At My Grandma's House

When I was born, I lived with my dad, mom and grandma in my grandma's house in Chowchilla, CA. This town is notorious for gangs, shootings, and plenty of "crazies" as the locals called them. This story is not about them, but I figured I should establish that first. I will be writing in this account ...

A Mysterious Sound

Namste readers. I've been an avid visitor of this site and this is the third story I'm about to share. Just like the previous ones, this is not a personal experience, but something witnessed by my parents. We live in Jodhpur, Rajasthan (many of you must have heard about it because of the recent wedding of Priyanka and Nick). We often travel to a nearby city, Udaipur, to celebrate my birthday. It's a drive of about 3-4 hours. The incident which I'm about to narrate, dates back to 2016, my 17th birthday.
Coming back to story, my dad is an Indian railway employee and we are eligible for holiday homes by the government in different cities. The one in Udaipur, is a beautiful, double storeyed building, with a campus and a stretch of land behind it covered with trees and outgrowths. We are well acquainted with the place and have never witnessed anything remotely scary there. Until 2016.
This was the first time we were allocated rooms on the first floor (I'm considering lowest level as ground floor). The description of the floor is pretty generic, it was a corridor with rooms next to each other. There were two rooms, room #13 for my parents and room #14 for me and my brother. Post dinner we decided to retire to our respective rooms.
Me and my brother were up, watching television and using our phones, while my parents were asleep. Suddenly my dad (accounts from his narration), heard the sound of 'ghungroo', an ornament worn by classical dancers in India made of bells, just outside their room. As if someone is taking a stroll wearing a ghungroo. He was tired so dismissed it at first. The sound was constant and it was bothering him. He decided to get up and check, if this is some sort of prank. He went out, did a little inspection but there wasn't a soul in sight. Mind you the corridor was big enough for a person to cross it this quickly. He would have caught the culprit as the staircase was on the opposite side of corridor and the person needed to cross our rooms to get to the staircase. He waited for some time and then went back to the room. As soon as he closed his eyes, he started to hear the sounds again. This time he ran outside in hope to catch him/her red handedly, as the sound was just outside the room. Nevertheless, he failed again.
This time he decided to check on us. He came in our room, and asked us if we heard something. We were up the whole time and didn't hear a thing. The volume of television was not too loud. We denied it and my dad told us to come to his room. We went there and he didn't say anything about the anklet sound. He was just constantly asking us if we heard something. Me and my brother were startled. We were standing near the window and could see the scenery around. We asked him, are we supposed to hear something, to which he just shook his head and told us to go back. My mom woke up due to the disturbances we made. It was around 1:30. Now, as my parents were drifting off to sleep again, they both heard the same noise. As if someone wearing ghungroo is walking next to their bed. This time, the 'thing' was inside their room. The sound was changing its source time to time. One second it seems to be coming from next to their bed and in split seconds it was in the corridor. The sound used to stop as soon as they open their eyes. It couldn't be a hallucination as two people were experiencing it at the same time and my dad hadn't discussed it with anyone until that point.
My mom dad were trying desperately to sleep but things got intensified. They heard some kind of banging on the grills of window (as if someone was hitting the grills with a stick, the thing you'd expect from watchmen during their night patrols). My dad was scared at this point as the room was on first floor and it was impossible for a human to bang grills like that. No, it couldn't have been any tree branches as there were no trees just outside the window and the banging seemed as if someone has deliberately did it to wake up my parents.
Somehow they managed to fall asleep in that nuisance, chanting prayers.
In the morning while having our tea, they finally spoke about it. They asked us if we heard something last night, to which we denied. We told them we were up until 3 or 4 but didn't hear anything strange (television was switched off after 2am and we both were on our phones), so we could have heard anything easily.
Their faces went pale and then they narrated us the whole incident.
We were in disbelief initially but the seriousness of my parents tone made us believe it. Well, the night was over and we checked out in the morning.
Later, my dad discussed this thing with one of his colleagues (let's call him Mr N), who is a native of Udaipur. He mentioned the strange noise and the strange series of events to Mr N. The latter was shocked. He asked my dad why and how was he alloted rooms on the first floor. The floor is allegedly haunted and that my family wasn't the first one to experience anything abnormal there. He told us that police had found a dead body of a female in the stranded land behind the building some years back, and that people have witnessed things on first floor.
We were shocked upon knowing this.
We went there again next year, in 2017, and this time our rooms were on the ground floor. Everything was normal during this trip, like it had been always, except for that one.
Now, there are few things I wanted to know:
1. Why is the first floor, the spot for such activities? Why isn't the entire building plagued by that 'thing'. The body was found behind the building and NOT in the building. There were no murders or ill activities inside the building. Was it because of the number "13" as many have suggested?
2. Why didn't we experience anything, despite the fact that we were in the next room.?
My explanation is, maybe because my parent's aura is weaker than ours. I've heard that people with weaker auras are prone to paranormal activities. This isn't the first time my parents have experienced such abnormalities though.
Well, any suggestions and advices are welcomed.
Sorry for the length, I just wanted to curate a proper narration.:)

Doctor Office Ghosts

I work in a pediatric doctor office and we have several paintings on our walls from sick kids from the children's hospital we are associated with. Quite a few of us here have had several experiences. Some of my coworkers have had little cards go flying off of the counters with no wind around or AC r AC to blow them off. Sometimes the bell for our doors will chime when I am the only one here or whenever one of the docs is here alone. We will usually say something like, "Hello, who's there?" only to get no reply because we are alone in the clinic.
I have had a few experiences. Often, I will feel watched here. It is a strange feeling when you are alone and you walk out the bathroom you SWEAR you locked only to find it unlocked and like you are walking into a fishbowl or something being examined or watched... As soon as this happened I grabbed all of my stuff and started walking out of the front door. I heard one of the exam doors slam closed as I was leaving. I did not go and investigate.
Recently, my coworker approached me and told me that a painting fell off the wall. I went over there and fixed it. There are a lot of these paintings from sick kids on our walls. So we go behind the desk and then boom something falls off the wall. She was too scared to go out there, so I did. And the painting right next to it was on the ground. It was never touched or moved in any way at all.
I don't know much about this building other than it has been here for quite some time. It was an OBGYN before it was a pedi office about 8-9 years ago. Before that, I am not sure. It is definitely not the newest office.
If anyone has any idea what kind of ghost this could be I am open to any suggestions! My manager thinks it is related to the paintings and that maybe one of them belonged to a child who passed away. Just her theory. A previous employee swore up and down she could see a little boy in here. I know that one of my coworkers came in early because she was expecting a friend to come so she could complete their blood work that morning. She kept hearing the door jiggle like someone is pulling on it. There is a silver bar in the front of the door to push and pull the door open and closed. She went up to the front 3 times and no one was there. Another time, same coworker came early, was the only one here, heard a loud crash and stayed in her office until someone else got there. When she went to see what was broken if anything... NOTHING was out of place. CREEPY! Thanks everyone.

A Father's Last Farewell

This is another story that involves my first-hand encounter with the paranormal. My story occurred in 1970 when I was still in the 4th Grade. I was a student in this coed elementary school in Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines that was located within a vast sprawling university campus known for its beautiful, acacia-lined avenues. I recall being a member of Section Makiling (named after a famous mountain in the island of Luzon) since all fourth grade sections where named after famous mountains in the country.
It was in the middle of the school year when one of the students in my grade level experienced a terrible tragedy. The student's name was Joyce M. (i.e., this is her true first name but I prefer to keep her surname confidential; upon request, I could email the surname to anyone who wants to know her true full name) and I believe she was a member of Section Sinukuan. Joyce's father encountered a terrible accident while he was attempting to board a jeepney somewhere in Quiapo, Manila while he was on his way to fetch his daughter after school. Her father slipped on the running board at the back of the vehicle causing him to fall and hit the pavement head-first. He was rushed to the hospital, fell into a deep coma but eventually died after a few days without recovering consciousness. He was laid in wake at the university's local chapel and it was during this period when this unusual incident occurred.
While her father was still lying in wake, Joyce still continued to attend her classes. Though still distraught with the death of her father I can still recall that she would still manage to respond with a faint smile to acknowledge the condolences from the teachers, her classmates, and other students. Our section's homeroom was just beside the room occupied by Joyce's section.
It was shortly before noon when a series of loud screams emanated from Joyce's homeroom. Our teacher immediately told everyone in our class to remain quiet and seated while she went next door to investigate what was going on. True to the nature of fourth-graders, curiosity got the best of us and a number of students from our section (myself included) decided to follow our teacher to find out what was happening.
The screams emanated from a girl that was seated immediately behind Joyce. This student and Joyce were seated on the left side of a table near the front of the class with the room's windows to their left (a small aisle separated their chairs from the windows). According to this girl, she witnessed a faint mist appeared slowly near Joyce's left shoulder along the left aisle and she claimed that she was suddenly overwhelmed by this feeling of coldness that enveloped her entire body causing her to shout out in fright.
When I arrived next door, I saw this throng of 4th graders huddled around that part of the room where the mist alleged appeared (the hysterical girl was already being consoled by the teachers and her friends). After much jostling I was able to see what they were looking at --- it was a circular spot of condensation on the red-tiled floor that has the diameter of a typical family-sized pizza. Students were putting their hands on the condensation and those who did were exclaiming that it was very cold. I managed to slip my own right hand on the spot and I swear to this day that the area on that floor was extremely cold. It was like putting your hands on the walls of your refrigerator's freezer. The funny thing was, after a person has touched the spot and removed the condensation on the floor, a new layer of condensation would suddenly reappear. This lasted for around 5 to 10 minutes before the condensation finally disappeared. I never managed to talk to Joyce personally after this incident but her friends said that she felt nothing unusual when the alleged mist appeared beside her.
A lot of stories floated around after this incident, the most famous of which was that the mist and the cold spot of condensation on the floor were manifestations of the ghost of Joyce's father who visited his daughter for the last time before moving on. I was already in high school when I got to know about this paranormal phenomenon called cold spot that is known to be a possible indicator of ghostly presences. I believe it was a genuine cold spot that I witnessed back then --- a ghostly phenomenon that I personally saw with my own eyes and even felt the freezing coldness of its condensation on the floor with my own hand.
This is just one of my personal experiences that I would like to share that made me truly believe in the paranormal, in ghosts especially.
