The United Arab Emirates is known for all things bright and beautiful, but did you know it also has a frightening side? There are a few places in the country that are said to be haunted, and it's not for the faint of heart. Here are the top five most haunted places in the UAE, ranging from abandoned houses to tunnels and villages.
Al Jazirah Al Hamra
Al Jazirah Al Hamra was previously home to three indigenous tribes and is now known for its collection of abandoned dwellings and other structures, including a mosque. It is situated to the south of Ras Al Khaimah and is made up entirely of red sand, hence the name 'Red Island.' The village is now so deserted that even if you arrive during the day, you might not see anything.
Al Qasimi Place
This one isn't for you if you're afraid of palaces and children dressed as ghosts. The palace, which cost a whopping AED 500 million when it was built over 25 years ago, has apparently stayed unoccupied except for one night. Strange occurrences were allegedly seen in the palace, including furniture that had gone ‘missing,' and faces of small children peeping through the windows at night, which eventually drove people out.
Pan Emirates and the Tunnel
The tunnel leading to the airport is said to be haunted, particularly when travelling through it. Even when traveling alone, some have reported feeling someone close to them. Also, thank you to the nearby cemetery for adding to the overall eerie atmosphere.
Jumeira's Horror House
There's nothing scarier than a haunted house, and this one in Jumeirah's Building-4 housing is proof of that. People have reported hearing a man's groans, a baby's screams, and other paranormal phenomena from the residence, which is owned by Filipinos. People are afraid to pass by the house since it is said to be haunted.
Al Khail Gate
This is the recently stalled location in Dubai. Three persons were the first to enter the Al Khail Gate in Al Quoz, which was erected in 2011. They quickly abandoned the premises, however, after discovering that cell phones, combs, and other items were disappearing every night. No one dares to move in after this incident.
