Haunted Places in Benin

The Benin people, with their strong religious beliefs and accent believe, use incantation to communicate their objectives. Words are spoken, songs are sung, and drums are beaten through incantation that is best understood as the language of the gods. The incantations can be heard from a long distance.

In the Benin culture, communication between the living and the dead has never been questioned. It is thought that the spirits of the deceased ancestors are always present and participating in cultural modeling, and as a result, they are used to rectify some dubious traits that are beyond the capacity of human gods. These ghosts take the form of humans, beasts, and animal-like creatures, among other things.

Just as humans require food to survive, it is thought that deities and ancestors also require food, which they receive as a sacrifice. As a result of the Benin kingdom's belief in the existence of deities and ancestors, sacrifices are a frequent way for these gods to be worshipped with utmost reverence. Sacrifices are prevalent in Benin's common streets, particularly at intersections.
